Best Tips for Visiting Walt Disney World on Thanksgiving

Disney World is simply the most magical way to celebrate the holidays. While Disney brings out the big spectaculars for Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving is celebrated more quietly.

There are no special events, firework shows or parades for the Thanksgiving holiday featured at Disney World. But if you do chose to attend during this time of the year, you will be assured of having a good American Thanksgiving feast.

Most of the onsite DisneyWorld restaurants feature a version of the Pilgrim's most famous meal.

Here is a list of locations in which you can find a sumptuous feast fit for our celebration of the New World.

In the Magic Kingdom:

Cinderella's Royal Table - Features a pre-plated turkey dinner.

Crystal Palace - The buffet features Thanksgiving favorites.

Liberty Tree Tavern - This character meal has a tradition New England Thanksgiving meal served family style.

Tony's Town Square - Italian twist on the traditional Thanksgiving meal, a la carte.

Epcot:

Akershus - Traditional turkey and stuffing dinner.

Biergarten - Turkey, green beans and stuffing will be replacing some regular menu offerings.

Coral Reef - Serving up a traditional Turkey and fixings dinner.

Garden Grill - Gourmet versions of Thanksgiving classics.

Le Cellier (Canada) - Offering their regular menu as well as tradtional Thanksgiving fare.

Rose and Crown (United Kingdom) - They have the classics, turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes.

Disney Studios (MGM)

50's Prime Time Café - The Chef offers a traditional menu, dessert is included.

Hollywood and Vine - Thanksgiving choices are added the the normal buffet.

The different on property resorts all offer a traditional Thanksgiving menu. Unfortunalty the Animal Kingdom theme part does not have a resteraunt that can serve up Thanksgiving dinner.

As with all special events or dinner shows an advance reservation is highly recommended. Popular meals include that elusive but desired seat at Cinderella's Table. Start by calling for reservations up to 180 days before your trip.

While you won't be seeing a magical Thanksgiving parade, you will get to experience the beauty of Walt Disney World's Christmas decorations. Starting on Veterans Day the Christmas decorations start going up all over the parks. The decorating is complete by Thanksgiving day. Starting the weekend before is the Christmas Fantasy Parade. And of course you will get to experience the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. During this time you can also attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This is a hard ticket event which requires an additonal charge in addition to the regular park entry price.

The magical world of Walt Disney is truely exciting to visit during the Thanksgiving holiday. Just remember that many other people are thinking the same thing. The children are out of school for Thanksgiving break. You have the weekend off from work. Everyone wants to see the Christmas decorations and it will be crowded. Thursday, the actual day of Thanksgiving will have the least crowds as people still want to be with family for dinner. The real crowds will hit the parks that Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you want to eat at any sit down establisment then advance reservations are a must. Use Fast Passes to skip lines for the most popular rides.

This time of year is one of the busiest along with Christmas and the summer months. Basically anytime your kids are out of school, so are all the others.
