Best Towing Vehicles

When buying a new vehicle many people overlook the towing capacity of the vehicle. Unless you have a boat, trailer or RV that you tow regularly, you probably don't care that your truck can pull 8,000 pounds or more. But if you do haul trailers at least a few times a year, it will be worth the extra time to look around at the large number of towing vehicles on the market today. And just because trucks and SUVs are at the top of the list does not mean you will have to sacrifice comfort or style to be able to tow your boat.

The towing capacity can change from year to year on each model, while manufacturers try to outdo each other by having larger towing capacities on their vehicles. This year there is a good range of choices in towing vehicles. The truck with the largest towing capacity is the Dodge Ram 3500, with over 16,000 pounds of hauling capabilities. The 3500 is a large truck and is not in the same class as a regular light duty truck. Unless you enjoy spending an arm and a leg on gas, this truck is not suited to be a daily driver. The next vehicle is the GMC Sierra 1500 with a 9,990 pound towing capacity. The GMC 1500 is also equivalent to the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The GMC Sierra is also a very nice truck with a comfortable interior. The Nissan Armada is also a great towing vehicle with 9,000 pounds of towing capacity. This SUV is the first full size SUV from Nissan and is a hit for families with the roominess of the interior. The next SUV on the list of towing vehicle is the Dodge Durango, which is not a full-size SUV. This is a popular SUV not only for towing with its 8,950 pound capacity, but for being a great family vehicle. The Ford Expedition is a very popular selling vehicle. With a towing capacity of 8,950 pounds and a third row seat, this is a great all-around vehicle for families. Another great SUV for towing and families is the Chevrolet Suburban. This great selling SUV has a towing capacity of 8,400 pounds unless you go for the 2500 model, which is capable of pulling 12,000 pounds. The Suburban is also a great vehicle for families, or if you just need a lot of extra storage space. If you like luxury but still need to be able to pull a load, the Land Rover Range Rover can haul up to 7,700 pounds while still looking and feeling like a luxury car.

If you don't like driving a truck or SUV but still have towing needs, you could always go for the Chrysler Pacifica or the Subaru Outback. The Pacifica is more along the lines of a minivan while the Outback is more like a wagon. The Pacifica has a capacity of 3,500 pounds while the Outback can pull 3,000 pounds.

There a lot of towing vehicles on the market today for you to choose from. Everything from real trucks to luxury car-like qualities, no matter what you need to haul, there is a vehicle out there for you.
