Best Transportation Option to San Jose Mineta International Airport

Here in the Bay Area we are fortunate to have several nearby international airports for all of our air travel. Many people in Sunnyvale who use our local San Jose Mineta International airport will usually opt to drive there. The cost of parking in short-term is $30 daily. The cost long-term parking is half that--$15 daily. Handicap parking is $15 daily in either lot. The cost for hourly parking is the same everywhere, for everyone--$1 every 20 minutes.

If you are planning a trip this coming holiday season that lasts more than a few days, you may consider an alternative to driving. The estimated cost of taking a taxi to the airport, from Sunnyvale, is about $32 cab fare. This includes the cost of a tipping the cab driver. Taking a taxi will allow you to relax while someone else does the driving.

The other option is a shuttle service such as South and East Bay Shuttle. From Sunnyvale to San Jose Mineta for a shared van is $18. For a private van, the rate is $59. The downside to the shuttle service is the amount of time you may waste waiting while other passengers are picked up or dropped off. If saving time is important, taxi service is your best bet. If you are in no hurry, you might consider the shuttle for only $3 more than the cost of parking.
