Best T-Shirts and Gifts for Filmmakers: MovieMakerMerch.Com

My Filmmaking-Themed Business Has One Customer: Myself

A. Bertocci
They say that business is all about knowing your customer. My business is t-shirts and gifts for filmmakers. I guess in my case, the customer was me.

I'm a filmmaker. I make movies. When I first made a "Film Crew Xing" t-shirt to celebrate filmmaking and film crew, I didn't realize I was founding MovieMakerMerch - http://www.moviemakermerch.com - a brand of apparel, knick-knacks, fun stuff and gifts for filmmakers. I just sorta wanted a t-shirt.

T-shirts for filmmakers are rare finds. But a t-shirt is practically the film director's uniform. Screenwriters, producers, cinematographers, editors? "T-shirt and jeans" people all the way. Independent filmmakers work hard and play hard. They make movies and they're proud of it. They deserve a tee that says that.

Gifts for filmmakers. Find a need and fill it, right?

Tees, hoodies and other amusing apparel for aspiring filmmakers (working filmmakers too!) are great, but this store celebrates the below-the-line filmmaking crew, too. Grips, gaffers, boom operators, production assistants, assistant editors-everyone working in film, television or video deserves respect. "Gifts for filmmakers" covers a wide category, too. Something sweet to wear on set. A mousepad for the editing suite. A clock for the production office. As a veteran of movie crews in every department, I'm proud to honor all film crew and television crew.

Gifts for independent filmmakers can get pretty costly. Not everyone can afford a video camera or a computer, and who knows what DVDs your favorite aspiring director already owns. But a t-shirt is affordable. Call it the low-budget indie filmmaker's gift. A sticker or a magnet to jazz up the director's home. A journal for the budding screenwriter for writing their next screenplay. A souvenir for the film school dorm. Simple presents for birthdays or Christmas. Gifts for filmmakers aren't about cost, they're about honoring filmmaking.

Moviemaker merchandise (so to speak!) isn't a new concept. Tees for filmmakers, shirts for screenwriters. It's been done. But my imagination hasn't.

We offer a fresh, funny look at making movies. Our experiences as film school students, amateur movie directors and independent filmmakers provide our attitude, our irreverence and our love of filmmaking. I founded my business on humor and wisecracks because I'm a funny guy. Our simple, approachable designs reflect my simple, approachable personality as an independent filmmaker. Again, the customer is me.

Because I love making movies so much, I've created a MovieMakerMerch Facebook fan page where we share war stories and reminiscences. Okay, so it's ostensibly about selling t-shirts for filmmakers. But, online and off, we're more about filmmakers than t-shirts.

With a wide assortment of designs and literally hundreds of shirts, hats, hoodies and gifts, MovieMakerMerch is your gift-buying guide for filmmakers of all stripes. Gift ideas for filmmakers can come few and far between; independent filmmakers are hard to shop for. We know what filmmakers want because it's what we want, what we like.

And we hope you like it too. Lights, camera, action!
