How I Met Your Mother
How I Met Your Mother, now in its fourth season on CBS, is a lighthearted comedy, perfect for moms to enjoy in the evening after a busy day. The characters are likeable, the storylines enjoyable, and the premise is unique. Told in flashbacks, this sitcom follows Ted as he falls in love. With friends, family, and a bit of romance, this comedy is a perfect choice for today's moms.
Kath & Kim
NBC's Kath and Kim is a great choice for moms. This sitcom follows mother and daughter Kath and Kim (played by Molly Shannon and Selma Blair), and their semi-dysfunctional relationship. This comical look at parenting and what life is like when your grown up daughter moves back in is a fun outlet for moms, especially those who can't imagine their little ones ever growing up!
According to Jim
The chuckles never stop in the life of Jim and wife Cheryl. Moms can appreciate the family humor and plotlines that Jim (played by Jim Belushi) and his wife and kids encounter every week. Jim's actions, which often annoy and upset his wife, might remind wives of their own husbands. This sitcom is not only one of the best selections for moms, but is also suitable for families.
If you are looking for a medical show, without the upsetting gore and scary scenes, Scrubs fits the bill perfectly. I get a bit of medical drama, which I love, without scenes that many new or emotional mothers can find upsetting. JD and Eliot's on again-off again romance leaves viewers wanting more, as do new parents Carla and Turk's struggles balancing parenting and work. Scrubs offers a everything you want in a sitcom.
The New Adventures of Old Christine
With single parents on the rise in today's society, many a mom can appreciate the scenarios and plotlines that face Christine (played by Seinfeld's Julia Louis-Dreyfuss). Christine has to deal with work, parenthood, and do it all while dealing with an ex-husband and his much younger girlfriend. While Christine isn't as graceful under pressure as she could be, her situations bring a smile to viewers, moms, and even herself at the end of the day.
If you're looking to escape into a sitcom world, where no problem can't be solved in 30 minutes, these tv sitcoms are well suited for today's moms. With a touch of motherhood, they offer an escape from reality, a touch of humor, and the promise of a neat and tidy ending.
