The first thing I loved about Savannah is its beach (Savannah Beach). It is such a splendid sight looking at the beautiful sunrise and sun set. I loved hearing the beautiful crashing waves of the ocean, the sea gulls chirping in the background, and feeling the cool breeze blowing through my hair. Every chance I had to just get away from meetings and conferences, I would go and walk along the beach and enjoy the tranquil sounds of crashing waves from the ocean. I felt an inner peace when I was on the beach.
Another thing I loved was the pier along Savannah Beach. The pier had wonderful shops that sold unique items. Some of the shops sold souvenirs/gift items. The shop that really caught my attention was the antique shop on the pier; I bought an old map from the 1800's. I feel like I found a treasure trove in the shop. I enjoy looking at the lovely southern artifacts. I literally felt like a little girl at the candy store filling her bag with lot tasty treats.
The third thing that I loved about Savannah, Georgia is the deep rooted southern history. Savannah has beautiful Victorian Style houses. I even had a chance to look at the plantation houses which reflect its dark history of slavery. I literally felt like I had an opportunity to travel back in time as I viewed the stunning houses, mansions, plantations of Savannah rich past.
The next thing I loved was the restaurants along the pier. Savannah has one the best southern style seafood that I have ever tasted. I am a true seafood lover and I would always tell everyone that if they ever go to Savannah to try their seafood. There was one particular restaurant that I enjoyed on the pier called the "Oyster House". I really enjoyed their sea food items on their menu. When I left Savannah, there were small farmers markets that sold fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables. They had some great deals and I had opportunity to buy about five pounds of fish and fresh fruits to share with my family.
The last thing I loved about the Savannah was the warm southern hospitality. The people there were so warm and friendly. Their southern charm made me feel welcomed and made me want to come back again and again.
I will always cherish my memories of Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is a place filled with warm southern spirit. The splendid view of the ocean and awesome food makes Savannah a destination that is top on my list.
