Best Valentine Dress Ideas for Women

Ashley Mott
Valentine's Day is a wonderful holiday for a woman to plan clothing around as there are many different events you may or may not have to dress for. One Valentine's Day you may be going it alone, while another you have a charitable event, and still another you enjoy an intimate dinner. Each Valentine's Day situation has a different dress code you can adhere to for maximum fun and effect!

Business

On Valentine's Day, an appropriate office choice should not involve blasting red from every pore of your body, but a red turtleneck or tailored long-sleeve short is not inappropriate albeit somewhat typical. To standout, wear a white turtleneck or tailored shirt coupled with a minimal red scarf. Alternatively, wear a shirt with a minimal graphic print in shades of red. A floral print with splashes of red can be particularly lovely against the white or grey skies of February!

Casual

If you are just chilling out by yourself on Valentine's Day but want to include some type of ode to the occasion, wear your usual look and then top it with a jaunty red cardigan left open in the front or with only the top button fastened. Wear a couple of loose, silvery accessories to add some shine to your ensemble.

Party Dress

For a Valentine's Day party, choose a dress in satin or silk. Whether you opt for red, pink, white or a completely non-holiday specific color, the sheen of the fabric can't help but keep you in a holiday frame of mind. Avoid gold accessories with a red dress unless you are the rare person who never looks too "loud." Silver accents red nicely without screaming "look at me." If you were a strapless dress, consider a mid-length silver necklace and a matching bracelet.

Dinner Dress

A Valentine's Day Dinner, either at a restaurant or at home, is definitely the best occasion to wear Valentine red to if you want to completely rock the color. For a one on one intimate occasion, pick out a figure complementing red dress with a cotton spandex blend. The stretch will ensure the dress fits perfectly while a cotton blend will keep the look from being overwhelming or uncomfortable after you've eaten a wonderful meal. Wear cute foundation garments, just in case!

Valentine's Day presents a wonderful occasion for tinkering with your attire, and, unless you have a demanding social calendar, is the last really big day for dressing before spring. Indulge the day and look your best!
