Best Valentines Chocolates

Perfect Valentines Gifts for the Sweethearts on Your Valentine's Day List

Laura Spencer
Who wouldn't like to receive chocolate on Valentines day? It's a classic sweet treat and pleases nearly everyone. This article will give you some of the best Valentines chocolate ideas out there.

There are basically two ways you can choose chocolate for gifts on Valentines day: homemade or purchased. This article briefly touches on both of them.

Homemade Chocolate Gifts

Some of the best Valentines chocolates are homemade. There are many homemade chocolate treats that you can create easily and add your special touch to make them unique. This article looks specifically at ways you can create special chocolate cookies or variations of chocolate pudding. These ideas are also perfect as a project you and your kids can complete together.

Chocolate Sugar Cookies. Bake sugar cookies using your favorite recipe (or even a store mix). You can use heart-shaped cookie cutters to shape the cookies like valentines, if you wish. Bake according to the recipe, cool, and frost with your favorite chocolate icing. Package in a container decorated with hearts and lace and you have the perfect homemade chocolate valentine!

Chocolate Chip Cookies. Who can resist the allure of chocolate chip cookies? Bake up a Valentines day batch for your children's classroom using your special recipe. You can be assured that everyone will agree that your kids had the best Valentines chocolates. For extra kid appeal, try baking extra small cookies. Use a ½ teaspoon to drop cookie dough onto the cookie sheet and reduce the cooking time. Most kids love receiving the extra small cookies and they fit nicely into small decorative packages.

Chocolate Pie. A Valentines day favorite at our house is chocolate pie. You can easily make this scrumptious treat using a pre-made crust (try a crushed Oreo crust) and pudding mix. Top your pie with chocolate whipped cream. For extra chocolate decadence, you can use a knife to create dark chocolate shavings to sprinkle on top of the whipped cream.

Chocolate Gifts for Sale

Many marketers claim that they have the best Valentines chocolates. Who should you believe? This article examines a few products out there that I wouldn't mind receiving on Valentines day. Take a look at my chocolate wish list.

JacquesTorres Chocolate (www.mrchocolate.com). I found these delectable chocolates at the bottom of Forbes.Com list of the "World's most expensive chocolates."

(http://www.forbes.com/wineandfood/2006/02/07/hershey-expensive-chocolate-cx_sy_0208feat_ls.html). I like it for three reasons. First, at $50.00 a pound it is the cheapest of the really expensive chocolates and still within the realm of affordability (at least in my chocolate dreams). Second, their online store has wide range of chocolate--related products even including apparel, cookbooks, and mixes. Finally, the website looks like a chocolate bar--how could a chocoholic not like that?

Hersheys (www.hersheys.com). I admit it. I grew up in Pennsylvania and always dreamed of going to HersheyPark (www.hersheypa.com). I never did get to go to the home of the Reese's® Cups and Kit KatTM bars, but you've got to love a chocolate company that has its very own amusement park.

Russell Stover® and Whitman's® (www.russellstover.com). I was surprised to find that two companies I had always thought of as being competitors are now owned by the same company. I grew up on these sampler boxes. Assortments from Russell Stover® or Whitman's® graced nearly every holiday during my childhood. What I really like about these companies is that they now provide chocolate for special needs. So, if you need to find sugar free or organic candy, you don't need to do without your old favorites.

Conclusion

I've listed some of the best Valentines chocolates. You can pick and choose one or several ideas for your special Valentine.

You got me hungry! I'd love to bake something, but I now have a half-assembled new refrigerator in my living room that just got delivered. I have to wait for dh to get home and dismantle the doorway to get it to fit into the kitchen.
