Best Valentine's Day Gifts for a Tween

Jane Vee
Tweens are hard to buy for, especially on Valentine's Day. You want to buy them something to celebrate the holiday, you just do not know what. If you are looking for the perfect Valentine's Day gift for your tween, here are a few suggestions that are tween pleasers.

When buying for a tween, remember their likes and dislikes. Tweens are very dramatic and you would hate to have a "destroyed" tween on Valentine's Day. Most tweens are simplistic and love everything. There are those who are at the age that they have acquired a taste for more expensive gestures. Here are a few ideas for both.

One of the first things my daughter wanted as a tween for Valentine's Day was silly bands. The "coolest" fad of 2010 is her favorite toy. Tweens love silly bands. They wear them as a fashion accessory, trade them with their friends, and best of all they even use them as a toy to keep them entertained.

Tweens are still young enough to enjoy simple pleasures like lollipops or balloons. If you want to give them a "bouquet" you might want to think about a lollipop bouquet or balloons in a "bouquet". You can have the bouquet waiting for your tween or even have the bunch of balloons delivered to make your tween feel extra special.

If your tween is young he or she still likes most toys. You can get them a big plush, hand held play stations or even small toys. Toys are okay for Valentine's Day, but you should try to teach your child sentiment and how to express it. Giving smaller gifts for Valentine's Day still shows your tween you care.

Young tweens also still think the bigger the better. If you are going to get your tween a Valentine's Day card, make it a big one. There are all types of big Valentine's Day cards for you to choose from for your tween. Character cards for Valentine's Day, especially from mom or dad, are much better than a sentimental card. Sentimental cards will just embarrass the over dramatic tween.

If you run out of ideas for Valentine's Day, you can always get a cell phone for your tween so you can stay connected with him or her. Cell phones are more than just a gadget for your tween to play with. You will be able to find him or her when they are out or you can let them know if you are running late. Giving your tween a cell phone will tell them that you think they are responsible enough to have a cell phone. It also means you trust them enough that they will not lose the phone. A cell phone is a win-win situation for everyone.

Whatever you do on Valentine's Day let your tween know you are thinking of them. They will appreciate the gesture. These gifts will even please the pickiest of tweens.
