Best Valentine's Day Horror Movies

Jennifer Wagner
Let's face it. Valentine's Day isn't everyone's favorite holiday. In fact, for some, Valentine's Day is downright depressing. If you hate Valentine's Day, and dread all the lovey-dovey Valentine's Day movies that you'll be exposed to, why not lighten the mood with a Valentine's Day horror movie? What better way to cheer yourself up than by watching the exaggerated death of some innocent soul.

Kick back in your favorite pajamas, stuff your face with popcorn, and enjoy these Valentine's Day movies that include no sickening love songs, no depressing poetry, and no over-the-top marriage proposals. Just good old-fashioned death and destruction.

Please keep in mind that I am not saying the movies listed here are actually good. No, I'm not promising that. What I am offering is about 90 minutes of mindless viewing that will help keep your mind off of the 'fluff' of the dreaded Valentine's Day. So, without further ado, here are the best Valentine's Day horror movies.

My Bloody Valentine - 2009

The only thing romantic about this Valentine's Day movie is the word Valentine in the title. There is a short sex scene (which has nothing to do with love) but it ends quickly in a brutal death, so it's okay. Not for the faint of heart, the blood and guts in this Valentine's Day movie should be enough to take your mind off the flowers and chocolates your co-workers received earlier in the day.

Valentine - 2001

Valentine is a ghastly 'who done it?" movie that will keep you entertained with murder, mystery, and mayhem. Best of all, the Valentine's cards that are given in this film are the complete opposite of romantic, and the chocolates are filled with maggots. Yum! The perfect way to keep your head out of the clouds and dreaming of romance.

Carrie - 1976

The movie Carrie has all the makings of a great love film - A young girl getting ready for the prom, her first date, and the guy of her dreams. But wait! What is that bucket of pig blood doing suspended in air above Carrie's head? Watch as Carrie's hopes and dreams are literally washed away, and see how her killing wrath begins. FUN STUFF!

Friday the 13th- ANY ONE OF THEM

It doesn't matter which Friday the 13th movie you pick, any one of them will make a great Valentine's Day horror movie. Why? Because Jason Vorhees doesn't put up with any of that romantic crap, that's why! If he senses any type of love in the air, he quickly picks up a machete and PUTS AN END TO IT! He's my hero, actually. You simply can't go wrong with a Friday the 13th movie as a Valentine's Day movie. It's guaranteed to take your mind off your troubles for at least 90 minutes of the day.
