Soul Vegetarian East
Address: 205 E. 75th Street, Chicago IL 60619
Phone: 773.224.0104
Website: none
Soul Vegetarian East is one of the most highly rated vegan restaurants in Chicago! The cuisine is soul food, a normally meat-heavy cuisine, but here it is served 100% vegan. If you don't like fake meat, the pickings here will be slim. Entrees include gluten veggie-burger, barbecue roast sandwich, salisbury "steak", pulled "pork". Soul Vegetarian East is definitely not a health food restaurant, but if you're into soul food, its a must.
Karyn's on Green
Address: 130 South Green Street, Chicago IL 60607
Phone: 312.226.6155
Website: www.karynsongreens.comwww.karynsongreens.com
Karyn's on Green is a simple and elegant vegan restaurant. The cuisine is mock meat heavy, but still has some good options for those not interested in meat alternatives. Its very much a restaurant centered on American cuisine, with crispy "chicken legs" and "chorizo" sliders. Also try the potato leek soup and eggplant cannelloni. Cocktails are superb-- sidecar, clip-on , and coconut water-- as are the desserts-- raw peanut butter ice cream sandwich and chocolate terrine.
