Best Vegan Restaurants in DC

Kate Michael
The vegan diet and lifestyle prohibits the use of animals for food, clothing... or anything else! Unlike vegetarians, who allow themselves to eat dairy products, the stricter vegan diet might make it more difficult to find a healthy and nutritional meal while eating out. But these DC dining spots provide some of the best - and best tasting - vegan options. So good, even meat eaters rave about them!

Soul Vegetarian Café & Exodus Carryout
(2606 Georgia Ave. NW)

Top rated on a list of cheap eats, this hip hole-in-the-wall is a no frills, and no table service, sure spot for all vegan soul food. Some menu must-haves include the BBQ Tofu, Greens, and a famous Macaroni & "Cheese" that has put Soul Vegetarian on the map in DC and in Chicago.

JavaGreen Café
(1020 19th St. NW)

This all vegetarian café actually has an all vegan menu, including a variety of Korean inspired noodle and rice dishes, mock meats - like the mock chicken drumstick, and non-dairy desserts. A great place to enjoy a vegan Sunday brunch or a sweet "ice cream" sundae.

Everlasting Life Cafe & Juice Bar
(2928 Georgia Ave. NW)

Billed as a gourmet vegan dining experience with all menu items under $10, Everlasting Life Café is more of a full service health food complex, offering smoothies, sandwiches and pizza in addition to entree items with more interesting flavor combinations, and a market for raw goods as well. Get to the store early in the day or the delicious garlic kale will be gone!

Sticky Fingers
(1370 Park Rd. NW)

This award-winning bakery adds a little something sweet to the city's vegan offerings. "Yogurt," parfait, and, of course, sticky buns are some of the best bets, but their savory selections are pretty sweet, too.
