Many vegetarian foods are found in the frozen food aisle of your local supermarket and are usually designed to mimic the taste of meat. The various brands offer selections of faux chicken, hamburger, bacon, sausage, and hot dogs. Although they don't taste exactly like meat, most of the foods are quite good and can satisfy even the most dedicated carnivore.
Here is a list that I have comprised of the best veggie foods:
Morning Star Farms Garden Vegetable Burgers:
Although they don't really taste like hamburger, the consistency of the patty is similar to a burger and can easily substitute a burger on a bun with lettuce, tomatoes, and condiments. I like these because they actually have vegetables in the patty. With every bite, you can taste mushrooms, carrots, peppers, and water chestnuts.
Boca Burger Original Vegan
The best feature of these burgers is that they are low in calories and high in soy protein. They are perfect for meat eaters and non meat eaters who are trying to follow a low carb diet. Although I don't think they are the best tasting, they are also satisfying on a bun as a burger replacement.
Morning Star Farms Chicken
These patties actually taste like chicken and are probably the best imitation out there. The patties are breaded and are similar in taste to fast food chicken sandwiches. They will get tough if you overcook them, though, so be careful.
Morning Star Farms Corn Dogs
These corn dogs are perfect for kids because it's difficult to tell the difference between them and the real thing. They're a great snack, you only need to pop them in the microwave for about forty seconds and they're ready. Be sure not to overcook or you won't be able to bite into them.
Boca Chicken Patties
Although these don't taste as authentic as the Morning Star Chicken, they have a great taste and a nice consistency. They are good on a bun or just by themselves with some mustard.
There are countless other options in the vegetarian frozen food section that are delicious and nutritious, and they are inexpensive and can be found at every supermarket. Vegetarian foods are a healthy alternative to meats as they are lower in fat and cholesterol. So this summer, do something good for yourself and your family--bypass the meat and pick up some veggie burgers for your next barbecue!

Post a CommentI don't understand why vegans and vegetarians eat veggie burgers or chicken patties if they are disgusted at the thought of eating meat.. If its so gross, why buy things that taste just like it?
