Best Vincent Price Films of All Time

Suggestions from a Vincent Price Fanatic

Marli
Vincent Price is commonly known as the father of modern horror. His performances showed his ability for evoking a strong dark mood while keeping his audience on the edge of their seats. He has acting in over 180 titles, mainly including horror flicks but extending into cartoons and television appearances. Here are his top 5 best horror films.

House on Haunted Hill

This movie is a must-see. There's nothing more classically horror than staying in a mysterious haunted mansion in the dead of night, and Vincent Price's acting is impeccable. Price plays a millionaire who decides to invite several strangers into a haunted mansion for a night. If they are all still alive by morning, they'll receive a hefty cash prize. However, there's more going on here than ghouls and goblins. Soon, you'll begin to realize that intentions are not what they seem and something sinister is happening in the old mansion.

The Bat

Another great film from Price is about a murderous dark figure known as the bat who sneaks into his victims home and kills them without leaving a trace. When two women are stuck in a mansion with no one to help them, he strikes. They soon call over others to help them, and with everyone trapped, tensions heighten because no one knows exactly where the Bat is lurking.

The Last Man on Earth

This film shows how great of an actor Vincent Price truly is. He carries the entire film single-handed and keeps the audience riveted with his stellar performance. In the film, Price plays a man who is, well, the last man on Earth. Much like the part Will Smith plays in I Am Legend, he spends his days gathering supplies and reinforcing his home to prepare for the night, when the evil rise from the dead and begin their ascent on any living members of humankind.

The Fly

This original version of the common cinematic story features an amazing performance by Price. When a scientist locked within the confines of his lab decides to try his hand at teleportation, an experiment goes awry which affects everyone around him. It is devoid of the gore that is prevalent in the Goldblum remake, which allows this film to truly captivate your mind without just being gross. It's definitely a great film with amazing performances by other members of the cast including David Hedison and Patricia Owens.

The Masque of Red Death

This film is about a Satanist prince who locks himself in his castle while a plague kills all those outside of its walls. His guests party and dwell with him in the castle. As the story unfurls, you'll find that there is more going on behind closed doors. Vincent Price stars as Prince Prospero, a fitting name. He gives an another great performance that will intrigue you and keep your eyes glued to the screen.
