Mobile hosts an annual race called the Azalea Trail Run. This 10k race began 33 years ago is considered one of America's top road races. You don't have to be a top competitor to enjoy this shady race track anytime of the year. Walk the Azalea Trail at your own pace and take a tour of the downtown area while you are at it. The trail begins on Government Street loops around South Fulton Street and circles back to down town through Dauphin Street. Bellingrath Garden

Bellingrath Gardens is the quintessential Southern garden playground. For walking, you could not ask for better variety and beauty than what you will see at the Gardens. This sprawling 65-acre estate is home to the Bellingrath Rose Garden, Fountain Plaza, the Grotto, the Rockery an Oriental Garden and tons of flowers in every hue and color. At certain times of the year, also a butterfly garden that makes an exciting walk through. The paths are smooth and safe for walking. Medal of Honor Park

Also known as Cottage Hill Park, this relatively new park is located at 1711 Hillcrest Road. Besides the picnic tables, modern playground and tennis courts, Medal of Honor Park is home to miles of well-manicured walking paths throughout the naturally wooded area. The walking paths are paved and smooth with good signage and enough foot traffic to keep you from feeling too isolated. It is a public park so you should be aware of your surroundings while enjoying the park. There is no admittance fee but the park does close at dusk.
