First off to have a better memory take a look at all the drugs you are taking. If you have to talk to your doctor that has you on all these pills and try to ask him to discontinue some of them. If he come up with some lame excuse why you need to be on 5 different medications. Look for another doctor that understands that people cannot really function on all these drugs. Drink more water, it seems that people in the USA do not drink enough water as it is. Try to stay away from tap water, if you must drink tap water get a filter. Most of the tap water in the USA is full of trace amounts of drugs and also plenty of solids such as toilet paper that cannot be filtered out.
Get plenty of rest, take a nap if you are able to. Getting plenty of rest will help your brain get rested also. Most of the people I have known though out my life are functioning in the world half awake or half asleep. They never get proper rest or proper nutrition. They think that their jobs are so important that if they didn't show up for work the factory would stop functioning. Of course this isn't true. Take better care of your self, you will be happier and your memory will improve with out taking any special supplements. The easiest way to improve your memory is to use it. Yes practice using your brain. Sounds funny but I make up little games to improve my memory. I try to remember at least 30 peoples names at one sitting. Sure you can use little tricks and techniques to do it. But I get plenty of satisfaction remembering even ten peoples names and when I see them again they are really surprised that I remember. Its just practice. If you are not around people use visualization methods to remember. We all remember in pictures, so I would say that all of us have a photographic memories. Look around the room that you are sitting in now close your eyes and picture the room in your mind. Try to remember where everything is, its easy if you practice.
My secret to remembering for the long term is something I call rerunning, I am pretty sure I didn't invent it but I have had great success with it. You know what re runs are on the TV right? What I do is rerun anything that I want to remember just like an old episode of a television show. I rerun all my martial arts classes that I have had for the last 30 years maybe once a week. Now you may think that it would take 30 years to re run them. Your mind works around one thousand times faster than your mouth. So it only takes me a few minutes to rerun the things I feel I want to remember. Remember some people claim that your mind cant tell the difference of you are really doing something in the physical or if you are just imagine it. What a concept. These are only a few of the techniques that I use to keep my mind functioning the way I think it should. I am certain that you can think up a few more on your own.
