1. Wet T-Shirt: Wet a t-shirt with luke-warm water, wring it out and put it on. Sit on a chair that lets air through to you, such as a lawn chair, and place a fan by you.
2. Pulse Points: Wet your pulse points with cold water. Use ice wrapped in a face cloth or an ice-pack as the coolness wears off. You can also use a spray bottle.
3. Cool Neck: Holding something cold up against your neck cools the blood to the brain very quickly. Wet a bandanna a tie it around your neck. This also protects against sunburn.
4. Cool Bath: Have a bath with cool water. Once you are used to the temperature let out some water and add with colder water. Do this until you are cold enough. After you get out you should feel cool for a while afterward.
5. Hot Shower: If you turn your shower on full heat and let the room steam up for 5-10 minutes you will get a nice cold rush once you leave the bathroom.
Sweat
Water vapor produces by seating takes the heat away from your body as it evaporates. If you are sweating sit in front of a fan or in a cool breeze.
Drink
Even if you are not thirsty you should drink water to replace fluids lost by sweating. Add ice. Avoid sugary drinks.
Clothing
1. Nothing: If you can it may be most comfortable to go naked.
2. Underwear: If you don't want to go nude wear just your underwear or swimming suit.
3. Summer Clothes: Wear natural fabrics like cotton, silk and linen.
4. Hat & Shoes: Take off your hat and shoes/socks whenever possible. Most of your body heat escapes from your head and feet.
5. Colour: Wear light coloured clothes as these will help reflect the light and heat.
Shade
Stay in the shade as much as possible. If you must go in the sun go out in the morning and evening. Wear a wide-brimmed hat.
Downstairs
Stay in the lower level of your house. Hot air rises so lower levels will be much cooler.
Heat Sources
Turn off electrical heat sources. Eat cold food rather than hot food. If you want to eat hot food use the microwave. Turn of lights and computers when not in use.
Mint
Cover yourself with minty lotions like peppermint. This will refresh the skin and leave a cool sensation.
Spicy Food
Eat spicy food. This causes extra sweating and cools the body.
Freeze
Fill three bottles about 3/4 full with water and freeze them. Place them in a large bowl or something to catch any dripping and place them in front of a fan. The fan will blow the cool air from the melting ice.
Misting
Set up a water misting system somewhere in the shade.
Stay Still
Do not try to fan yourself. Movement will make you hotter.
