Best and Worst Super Bowl Commercials of the Third Quarter

Lee Andrew Henderson
In the first half of the Super Bowl there has been a few scoring drives but it hasn't been the most entertaining game. The same can be said for the commercials so far. There have been a few good commercials, a couple of good trailers and a whole lot of other boring, stupid and disturbing commercials. The second half of football games are usually more interesting, hopefully the second half of commercials will be to.

First commercial of the second half is a commercial for "The Voice" guest starring Betty White. I can't think of a more annoying combination of television show + famous person. Maybe...Glee + Hitler?

Next we get Detroit's halftime commercial starring Clint Eastwood. Very powerful, great visuals, Eastwood's gravely voice fits perfect. Five stars all-around. Best commercial so far. Perhaps the third quarter is going to raise the bar.

Next commercial break starts with a commercial for NBC's "Smash". This is a good sign because NBC is going to promote their shows at what they think is the optimum time although none of the other commercials in that break were worth mentioning.

Next commercial has not much of note again so maybe things aren't about to pick up. There was a commercial in which a model turned into a car and a yogurt (?) commercial with John Stamos getting headbutt. As much as I'd like to headbutt Stamos it seems the commercial was going for the surprise ending even though it was evident from the beginning that something like that would happen.

Well after a strong start that ended up being really disappointing but the final commercial break did give us a pretty nice NFL commercial with the evolution of the NFL equipment and rules and then a Chick-fil-a commercial. I love those cows. I think those two round out the top three with the Detroit commercial being first for the third quarter and overall.

I wasn't very impressed by any of the commercials.
