Yoga People in boerum hill section of Brooklyn offers a beginners course for people who are new to yoga. This is a great place to start if you have never had a lesson or know what yoga is. Yoga people are a little pricey compared to other centers, but you do get what you pay for and much more. They offer private lessons which can run you $95. They offer all types of massages from shiatsu to hot stone which many finds very relaxing. Each massage runs for an hour and average around the $100 range.
