When I decided to shop around to purchase my first DVD player as luck would have it; the first choice was not a good one. I purchased a model that was on sale at another retailer. The player was a used used model, which did not work correctly. After much frustration, I took it back to the store and continued on my search. While surfing online, I decided to take a look at www.bestbuy.com.
MY EXPERIENCE
As I reviewed the www.bestbuy.com website, the number of categories varied from Computers, Telephones, Music, Movies, Software, Video Games, Home Audio, Video and Appliances.
After taking a look at the various models offered at www.bestbuy.com, I was able to view the different models, and pictures of the items, including rebate availability. Upon viewing the selection of DVD players, I came across the exact model I was looking for. The best part was that the item was on sale. I did find it interesting that the site had a "Wish List" option where you can put items in the folder that will remain there for 30 days in case I wanted to make a future purchase.
I placed the order by setting up an account online at www.bestbuy.com . The process took a few minutes to enter all the necessary data. After choosing the item that I wanted, I entered the method of payment and shipping information. Since the DVD player was in stock, I had two options: 1) pick-up at a nearby Best Buy location (with no shipping costs added to the total) or 2) ship to my home mailing address (with the appropriate shipping charge). On other sites that I have seen, such as JC Penney.com, Ishipping charges were added to the total even if the delivery is to one of the local stores. (I still have a difficult time understanding this and don't like that very much.) I decided to go for the free pick-up and chose a local Best Buy location to complete the order.
I received an email confirmation. Within that email was the item, purchase price and a link to my account in order to determine the status of the order. The typical turnaround time in order to have www.bestbuy.com confirm that the merchandise is ready at the pick-up location is about a day or two. But, to my surprise my order was ready to pick-up within a few hours! (I ordered the item around 1:30 p.m and it was available about 3:30 p.m.) Another confirmation email was sent out by www.bestbuy.com letting me know that the order was in, but I knew well before the email came out.
After work I made my way to Best Buy store and waited in the Customer Service line. The transaction only took a few minutes. I was required to provide the confirmation letter, a picture ID and the credit card used for the purchase. Afterwards, I was given a receipt and off I went. I took the DVD player home and was so happy when I finally got it up and running so that I could play my DVD's.
OVERALL
My experience with www.bestbuy.com was a good one. I plan to continue to use the service in the future and maybe even add some wish list items for future purchases.
