BET Awards, Chris Brown Made the Show

The 10th Annual BET Awards aired June 27, 2010 and was the best of all BET Award shows. Many remember last year for its impromptu tribute to Michael Jackson and how the show wasn't as powerful due to changes at the last minute. 2010's show made up for last year's mistakes.

Kanye West started the night with a powerful performance of his new single "Power" standing on top of a mountain on stage with what was almost like a 3D Imax theater special effects scene.

Queen Latifah was the host and did a great job coming out in costumes from her past movies. She had great jokes in her opening act saying she hopes Lil' Wayne's soap is on a rope and joked about how clumsy Drake is on stage after his big fall which caused him to be on a stool last year.

Usher performed his current hit "There Goes My Baby" and it was an awesome performance although simple the song did all the work for him.

Out of jail T.I. did his thing with Travis Barker on drums, Diddy Dirty Money performed also with Rick Ross, T.I., and Nikki Minaj. Other performances include Drake with Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Eminem, Ludacris and many more. A Prego Alicia Keys also performed a medley of her hits. In tribute to Teddy Pendregrass Tyrese did a medley of songs from the late singer.

Unfortunately for all of the artists Chris Brown stole the show with a real tribute to Michael Jackson the King of Pop for the first year anniversary of his death. He really rocked the show doing all of the late singer's dance moves. Brown is known for being a huge fan of the King of Pop after doing a Thriller/Billie Jean inspired show for MTV a few years ago. As the performance went on to "Man in the Mirror" showing pictures from the disaster in Haiti and the oil spill in the Gulf, Brown began to sing, but emotions overwhelmed him and he unfortunately could not go on, but when the camera showed the audience many were singing with him and for him. He left the stage in tears without finishing, but his performance made the night. Later in the night a special award was given to the fans of Chris Brown after a special BET contest. Brown said to his fans: "I let you down before but I'll never do it again."

John Legend won the Humanitarian Award, and Prince won the Lifetime Achievement Award, with newcomer Janelle Monae performing and Alicia Keys performed Prince's song "Adore". With the baby bump she got on top of a piano and did a racy dance. Even with a big star like Patti Labelle performing in the tribute to Prince the show climaxed with Chris Brown and his tribute to Michael Jackson.

Big winners were: Alicia Keys, as best Female R&B and also for her collaboration with Jay-Z for the song, "Empire State of Mind". Lil' Wayne's pupils Drake and Nikki Minaj won for best in hip hop. Trey Songz won for best male R&B and Beyonce and Lady Gaga won best video for "Video Phone".

This year had more performances than awards. It was an awesome show, but Chris Brown stole it and reclaimed his spot as an outstanding performer.

I love love love MJ - and Chris Brown is a great preformer, but I feel he could have done a "bit" better of a job in this preformance. We all miss MJ - (but he isn't dead) :)
