Bethanie Matteck-Sands Wears Lady Gaga Style Dress to Wimbledon Party

Lady Gaga is notorious for her outlandish sense of fashion, but who would have guessed that tennis player Bethanie Matteck-Sands would be caught wearing something the pop diva would be expected to be seen in?

On Thursday June 16, 2011 Matteck-Sands showed up at the Wimbledon player's party wearing a custom made dress that looked like it could have been bounced on the tennis court quite a few times. The bright yellow-green normally found in tennis balls adorned the dress, in the form of tennis ball cutouts. The bodice of the dress resembled a corset with fancy lacing across the front, laced shoulder straps, and a skirt of the same color made of sheers which draped perfectly around her waist like an oversized handkerchief. The neon color of the dress was enough to hang it from the top of the Empire State building as a warning to airplanes or possibly even UFO's. Designed by Alex Noble, the dress certainly was appropriate enough for a tennis player's event. Matteck-Sands even made a few appointments with Noble to discuss the dress concept and get the fittings done. A dress like this could not go without accessories and Matteck-Sands added a pair of shoes in the same neon yellow-green shade along with a hat that resembles a gladiator's helmet. Of course, such a helmet really is not a basic necessity on the courts but the tennis ball halves decorating the center of the hat could not go passed up. The only thing the hat is missing is a tennis racket with the hoop facing the front, and the handle bent towards the back. A hat like that can come in handy, especially for swatting flies.

The tennis dress is unique enough so what other uses can it possibly have? For one thing, this tennis dress is not something that would be seen stored on just any closet hanger. Instead, this dress is meant to be displayed on a mannequin, preferably one positioned in Bethanie's bedroom as a source of inspiration. There is no need for a dream board in this case as the dress itself will aid in the concrete manifestation of any goals.

No doubt Bethanie will cherish this particular dress although she will not be able to wear it to the courts at the All England Club. The club has a strict rule on garments which must be all white, not neon yellow-green like a tennis ball. But Bethanie may appear in something unique in design so long as it meets the color requirements.
