Bethany Storro, Acid Attack Victim, Actually Perpetrator of Hoax

What's the Motive of the Acid Attack Hoax?

Bethany Storro, acid attack victim will likely be losing a lot of sympathy. After making allegations that an unknown woman ran up to her and said "hey pretty girl want something to drink?" and then doused her in acid, it turns out that the whole thing was one big, sick hoax.

Yes, that's right -this young woman decided to make us all feel like idiots by making us feel SORRY for her, and what's worse is we don't even know the motive yet!

I highly doubt that the motive in the Storro acid attack hoax is to get a reality show deal, much like the motive of the Balloon Boy hoax last fall. The acid attack was something heinous - something others couldn't even imagine.

What's more is that the acid attack was swiftly followed by a second, unrelated attack. The Arizona mom who was doused in Acid was not believed to have been the victim of a random attack, such as what was presumed about the Storro case at the time.

It comes as little surprise that authorities are eyeing charges on Storro for this hoax. After all, it only makes sense - why would you want to encourage this sort of attention grabbing? By throwing the book at Bethany Storro, you ensure that people out there don't think that they can get an extra bit of fame with no repercussions by lying about something so vile.

A police authority told CBS news that "The basic charge would be false reporting. It could go, depending on whether she accessed any of the funds from the fund-raisers, any of the financial aspects of this, could go all the way up to felony charges and fraud."

So far, it is believed that the bank will return all monies donated to her fund.

So what would bring someone to do this? A psychologist told CBS news that "Really, what you're seeing for somebody like this is just a big hole in this life, and a strong desperate need for attention and willingness to go to an extent to get it."

In addition, the police note that she's "very upset" but fail to mention if she's upset that now she's disfigured for life, and will have to realize that she did this to herself every time she looks in the mirror or if she's very upset that somehow this charade crumbled down around her.

In a way, I still feel sorry for Bethany Storro. She's very much a troubled soul. I only pray that her family is not hurting over the acid attack hoax, and I really hope that she gets the mental health help she needs.
