Betrayal

Coral Levang

You call yourself a "Christian,"

A man who does what's right.

You share yourself with others

And in you, they find delight.

You smile, you laugh, you offer

A part of you that's good,

But when these others are not listening,

Your words are ugly, harsh and rude.

The times you should have been there

Were few and far between.

It was never quite "convenient,"

Until you knew that you'd be "seen."

Your constant criticism

Showed true colors-disrespectful, vulgar, mean.

Reminiscent of another,

Whose treatment was obscene.

So, go through your life...keep up the show,

You certainly come by it naturally.

But there are those who see right through you

And know, firsthand, your duplicity.

And when your curtain finally closes

With no more left to say or do,

The memory of you that will remain

Will be of the ugliness that's you.
