Betrayal by a Man

Leslie Ann Goff

It all happened right in front of her. The past three years meant apparently nothing to him. He was showing her his true feeling, or maybe it was just the alcohol revealing his inhibitions.

Eddie had cheated on her once already. She had let that slid because it was in the beginning of their relationship. She attempted to control him, but her efforts only pushed him away.

A man like Eddie is not one that is recommended for relationships. His life consists of: beer, sex, alcohol, and drugs. This man brings those around down to his level, with out ever blinking an eye. Not responsible and just telling women what they want to hear to get what he wanted.

She called him after he had gotten off work to see if he was coming directly home or not. Being the ragging alcoholic that he was, he told her that he was going to the bar to down a few drinks before coming home. They had an argument before he left for work that morning about how he thought that she was too much of the "Nagging girlfriend", and he told her that she needed to work on that. So instead of getting upset over the fact that he was going to stop by the bar, again, she went on to tell him that he should not be gone to long, because she was cooking dinner as they spoke. His favorite; pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans and home made bread. This would always lead to an erotic dessert. Six hours had passed, the dinner had gotten cold, and she had gotten hot, since she had heard from Eddie; she had enough of this waiting game. Eddie had her car so she had to call her neighbor to give her a ride down to the bar, where Eddie was drinking at. This was a ride that she would soon enough find out that it would bring her to her knees, yet she did not know this at the time.

The bar was only a short distance from her house. She thanked her friend and closed the car door. Looking at the duct-taped door, she inhaled deeply, and then entered. There Eddie was, sitting in his usual stool, the difference was his lap was occupied, and so were his lips. Her alleged friend was resting her butt in between his legs, and was stretching around to embrace him with an intimate kiss. She watched as Eddie turned her friend around and returns the kiss. His hands slid down her lower back and waist, then to her butt.

She was shocked; breathless, speechless, and broken hearted. Betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend; her heart was scorned. Salty tears made a steady stream down her face.

As Eddie flagged the bartender, in the corner of his eye he saw her, then he froze. He realized by her empty teary eyed face that he had been caught. He tapped his girl-friends' friend on the leg, to inform her of their discovery, but she had already seen her and started moving away from Eddie. She fled to the bathroom almost instantly.

Eddie finished his drink then sat it down and slid out of his stool. As he approached her, his head was down and his tail between his legs. Her mouth spoke before she could think.

"What in the Hell is going on, Eddie?"

"Um, uh, we just have been drinking a little too much. Nothing happened...I'm sorry. You believe me right? I can explain..."

"Save your breath," as she spoke these word the tears kept rolling even harder and faster, like a faucet.

"...but..."

"I don't really care...No, I take that back. I do care, that's why I'm so hurt."

"I'm so, so, sorry," at this point he was trying to get back into her good graces by attempting to hold her at the waist: this only lead to her pushing him off and away from her.

"Go put your arms around her. Speaking of which, where is she? Is she not women enough to take responsibility for what she has done?"

"It's not really my fault. She came on to me. I didn't want her to..."

"Well, I didn't see you objecting to her grinding up against you. And I surely didn't see you pushing her away."

The only thing that Eddie could do at this point was to hang his head in shame. She just stared at him in disbelief, not quite comprehending what just happened in front of her eyes. Not knowing exactly the right choice, she reaches out to him. He lifts his eyes in relief and wraps his arms around her as tightly as he could.

Eddie whispers into her ear, "I love you so much, this will never happen again. I promise that I will make this up to you."

She embraces his lips with hers, then her entire body release. She stepped backward away from him; she turned then went out the door. Before she shut the door behind her, she gave him the last glance.
