Better Than Ears Dog Treat Review

Chen Salis
My dogs are spoiled; they love to be indulged with treats. My boyfriend had been buying Pig Ears for the dogs, but I discovered my dogs were not chewing these types of treats up completely, which caused me to worry about not only the health of their throats but also their digestive health.

I know how much my dogs like to eat pig ears, so I hated the idea of completely cutting this treat out of their lives. Recently I decided to purchase Better than Ears Plus skin and coat dog treats in Cheese and Bacon flavor. I know these treats are not exactly the same, but the idea is similar. I like that these treats are softer. I do not have to worry about their throats and tummies as much with the Better than Ears brand of dog treats, but I can still indulge my four legged friends.

I paid less than $3 for a 7.78 ounce package of Better than Ears Plus dog treats, the package contains 9 'ears'. Considering the price of a single Pig Ear, I feel that these treats are a great value. I was spending around 70 cents per Pig Ear before.

What I like about this brand is that they contain Omega fatty acids for a beautiful coat and healthy skin, and they are digestible.

Now, I know there are some people who will say these treats are not ideal because they contain corn flour, but when you consider the additives and ingredients in all dog treats, and people treats, what is considered to be healthy these days? Fruits and Veggies of course, but if your dog happily snacks on broccoli, that is a story on its own! Better than ears plus are low in calories, and they must be quite tasty because my dogs will do an assortment of tricks to acquire a Better than Ear from me.

I will continue to purchase this brand of dog treats, my dogs like them and considering they receive regular check ups from their vet, I believe as an occasional indulgence these treats are suitable for my dogs. I would happily recommend the Better than Ears brand of dog treats to any pet owner who is concerned about feeding traditional pig ears to their pooch. I am not an expert on the standard Pigs Ear, but they just don't seem safe to me. They are hard, for one, and most dogs are happy to inhale their treats without chewing adequately, without concern for their health. Another added bonus of this treat is that they are virtually mess free, which is something that cannot be said about the standard Pig Ear!

Better than Ears Plus are available at most retailers, from Kroger's and Wal-Mart to pet supply stores.

we bought these treats for our dog (3yr old) on 2-16-09. She has had about 4 of these and her stomach isn't feeling good. She has been throwing up a few times a day and wont eat or drink. Off to the vet tomorrow and I'm going to call the company along with walmart.
