Betty Crocker Turtle Cookie Bars: Review

Chen Salis
Betty Crocker is a well known and loved brand of baking mixes. Recently while shopping at my local Wal-Mart Super Center I saw Betty Crocker Turtle Cookie Bars Supreme Dessert Bar Mix for a great price of $2.49. I purchased this dessert kit without hesitation because I have used many Betty Crocker products before and have always been quite impressed with the results. In this review I will share my thoughts and experiences with this product in an effort to help other shoppers make an informed buying decision when searching for a different, delicious and easy to prepare dessert.

One thing that always turns me off of some dessert kits is the additional items you need to add to the mix. I was thrilled to see that in addition to water all that is required is a half a stick of butter to complete this great cookie bar dessert.

The Betty Crocker Turtle Cookie Bar Supreme Dessert Bar Mix is very easy to prepare, the directions are very easy to follow and aside from mixing the cookie bar, squeezing the caramel, and pressing it into a pan, there is nothing to it! To prepare this dessert, no skills are required basically.

The Turtle Cookie Bars are delicious, but in my own personal opinion, I think the caramel could be cut back and more walnuts would be great! My family enjoyed this Betty Crocker Dessert Mix, and we will certainly make this sweet treat again. I think that the dessert mix was a great deal, it was affordable, a generous sized package, and offered my family a change from the standard Oreo's and Popsicles type treats. What more can you ask for?

I will certainly purchase Betty Crocker Turtle Cookie Bar Supreme Dessert Bar Mix again and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys baking but does not have the time or skill to prepare things from scratch. This layered cookie bar will appeal to anyone who likes chocolate chip cookies, walnuts and caramel. This would be a great dessert to take to a picnic, or to pair up with ice cream on a summer day. I give this dessert bar mix two thumbs up for flavor, price, uniqueness and availability.

If you are looking for a dessert mix that is easy to prepare, requires very few additional ingredients, and is affordable then look no further than the Betty Crocker line of Supreme Dessert Bar Mixes.

My opinion differs greatly from you ladies. Due to the excess caramal that is enclosed in the package, the recipe turned out as what only can be described as "cookie goop"!! I followed the directions to a T ( except for addinga dditional walnuts), so I am not quite sure what happened? I even rebaked them an additional 20 minutes at 375, but yet, still goopy. I will not buy or bake these in the future, not will i recommend themm to friends or family.

Made these cookie bars for the first time yesterday for 4th of July BBQ. They were gone instantly. Every bit as good as layered bars made from scratch. Will definitely buy again.
