Between the Past and Future
Forward along the trails in the night
By the light of the moon and stars
I take each step forward with mixed emotions
Fear, excitement and sorrow mingle together
With my past now firmly behind me
And my future somewhere up ahead
I follow a trail that I sometimes see in outline
Set before each of my steps on this journey
For the longest time, I knew the scenario well
I would walk this particular path alone
Traversing the mountains between past and future
Without a soul by my side for company
While the journey is quieter than I had hoped
It is by far more fulfilling than I ever dreamed
The joy of conquering the rise of each ridge
Is incomparable to any other feeling in my life
…for I do this now for me…
