Beware of Government Grant and Loan Scams

Jimmy Smith
Government grant and loan scams are becoming increasingly vicious, mainly due to the fact that government grants and loans are supposed to be free and all the information associated with them can be found for free easily on the Internet. Many times companies will charge up to $5000 information sent in the mail on how to obtain a government grant, and this is clearly a scam. To avoid being ripped off by these companies, you should educate yourself as much as possible.

I was recently almost ripped off for $150 myself. I went on line to apply for a loan and clicked the submit button, the next page said "Thank you for your order." so I clicked the back button. Underneath the submit button, there was small print that said I had just been charged $150 for an informational "grants CD". I was shocked and thank god I was able to call them back and cancel easily, but I wonder how many people did this and didn't even notice the $150 dollar charge in small print. Those people probably got a pleasant little surprise on there bank statement.

The government grant scam has been around for awhile, and isn't going away anytime soon. Thousands of people fall for this scam a day and don't even know it. Information on government grants is free, and should not be paid for under any circumstances. If you receive a call or offer from one of these people, please reject it and do your research. There is no such thing as "free money", and the "free money" scam is one of the oldest scams that there is known to man. When one searches the web for government grants, the only site to trust is www.usa.gov.
Always ensure that the government domain ends with .gov.

    Great article! Excellent advice!
