Beware of HP

Once Great Company Has Turned into a Scam

Jennifer Etherton
When you purchase anything, especially from an electronics institution like HP, and the packaging or the company's website say something is included and it is not there, how long do you think the word "included" should mean anything? In the case of HP the word "included" is merely a suggestion not a true indication that the parts that come with their products are actually in the box and if you should call the company to ask for the part to be sent you will be told "if you want it, you will have to pay for it." If your equipment is over one year old, then you will have to pay outlandish fees just for the technical support to say anything to you; if you can understand them at all.

If you get frustrated and ask for a supervisor you will be told that none are available or you will have to wait a minimum of 45 minutes for the person to get on the phone. If you are still not satisfied and ask for that person's supervisor then you will be told that there is no one above that person and they will hang up on you. If you want to go a step farther and speak to a case manager at HP's head quarters, don't speak to Gina because she will hang up on you as well if your equipment is over one year old.

HP is a worldwide corporation that has seem to forgotten what made them so big in the first place, the consumer. They care little about keeping their advertising promises or customer service, and God forbid anyone have a problem with them. This will only lead to more frustration and a day wasted when it could have been spent of more pleasant pursuits, because HP forgot to put a part in the box like the packaging and their website say are included. While HP products are generally very reliable the customer service and the idea that the word "included" is nothing more than a ploy to get the products off the shelves this author suggests you purchase your electronics for another corporation.

While these problems may seem small to a large organization like HP, they are making billions of dollars on their forgetfulness. Can you imagine a small business owner doing the same thing? They would be out of business in a matter of a few days, but large corporations such as HP have decided they can step on the very people that pay their bills. While an all out boycott would be ideal it is nothing more than a pipe dream, but it is highly recommended that you think twice before using HP products and service unless you like completely wasted days and high blood pressure dealing with their incompetence. HP has become little more than a scam to the average individual.
