When most people think of New York and waterfalls, they naturally think of Niagara Falls. But the State of New York is absolutely loaded with waterfalls. Niagara is the largest waterfall in the state, but it is not the tallest and another waterfall in New York actually exceeds Niagara Falls in sheer volume during peak flow times.
These are eight great waterfalls, or places to see many waterfalls located in the Empire State of New York. I've been to almost all of these waterfalls, and can say without a doubt you won't be disappointed visiting any of them.

When Cohoes Falls flows at full capacity it actually has four times the volume of water flowing over it than the American Falls at Niagara does. The local power company runs a live stream of Cohoes.
