Beyond Reason

I think about him and I smile to myself

the thought of his touch sends waves through my body

I struggle with a sense of longing that I've never known before

as though he is the only one in the world

as if there could never be anyone else

I long to be near him when he is not around

I know he could make a fool out of me

he need only ask and I'd give him the world

truth be told he might not need to ask

I would gladly give him everything I have

and beg, borrow, or steal to give him the rest

I cannot explain the power he has over me

but if you were to see him, to know him

to be near him

maybe you would understand
