Beyond the Zone Split Mender Hair Care Product Review

Rebecca Said
I tend to have dry hair and always trying new hair care products to keep my hair hydrated. Beyond the Zone pro formula split mender promises to repair damaged ends. It also claims to seal, smooth and protect your hair.

On a recent shopping trip to Sally Beauty Supply I discovered they were having a big sale on all the Beyond the Zone products. Beyond the zone makes a wide variety of hair care products packaged in bright neon colors. I purchased an 8 oz. bottle of the beyond the zone pro formula split mender for $4.49 to try it out. It comes in a neon purple plastic bottle with silver lettering and a green pump top.

On the back of the bottle it says, "Split mender leave in conditioner. Grossed out, ratty tatty hair? Don't want to cut it? Call for help and rescue that mangled mess. Turn dreaded locks into silky smooth, shiny, healthy looking hair."

After trying this product, my opinion is that they over promise and under deliver. It did not mend my split ends after using it everyday for a month. It did seal, smooth and protect my hair when it was applied. It seems to just coat the hair and make it appear more conditioned while I am wearing it. With long-term use it would probably improve the overall condition of my hair, but not as much as they claim. I like using this product as a styling aid. My hair is curly and it does help to control it on my frizzy days. The product feels very sticky when it goes on. It will coat your hair and doesn't seem to absorb very well.

Beyond the Zone claims that it will:

Smooth and seal split ends

Repair damaged hair

Provide healthy looking body and shine

Protect hair

No greasy build-up

It does seem to protect my hair from further styling damage and I also like the fact that there is no greasy build-up. In my experience though, it does not seem to permanently repair split ends. At least, it did not repair mine in the month that I was using it. I think it simply coats your split ends when it is applied to give appearance that split ends are gone. Once you wash the beyond the zone out of your hair the split ends are back. In addition, it did not provide my hair with healthy looking body and shine. I think it makes a good styling aid, but there are much better hair care products to condition your hair and repair split ends.

I used this product (Beyond The Zone, Last Call Hair Masque), and it WONDERS on my hair.
I have naturally wavy/curly hair that is dead from using a flat iron on it everyday. A mixture of this and dry, cold weather made my hair so frizzy and unmanageable!
I used Beyond The Zone as a conditioning treatment and left it on my hair for an hour and a half, and it's like magic; seriously my hair is silky again (it usually takes about 5-10 treatments with other conditioners/products to get THIS much of a dramatic change.
I would recommend this product to anyone with dry/damaged/color treated hair!
