Beypore: An Ancient Ship-building Beach

kendrathil
Located in the northern part of Kerala, India, Beypore beach is known from time immemorial for the "Urs" (boats) that were even admired by the Arabs. This ancient ship building beach has now gained a place in the tourist map and every year thousands of tourists flock to this place.

Beypore is not only known as a ship building centre but is also known for its calm and tranquil beauty. Beypore beach is really thrilling with its vast expanse of land and turquoise blue sea. One cannot exclude Beypore from the tour map of Kerala.

Though the ship building industry has now declined, you can come across several craftsmen who were engaged in building "Urs". Feel free to talk to them about the old fashioned boats that had travelled as far as the Arabian lands.

As like all the beaches in Kerala, Beypore also offers a very calm and serene atmosphere where you can relax your body and mind. A great attraction of the Beypore beach is the two km long stone bridge, which makes a pathway into the sea.

If you are really enthusiastic about the life of the fisher folk, just visit a nearby village. Get into a catamaran and wade into the sea along with the fishermen, which is a unique experience.

While visiting Beypore, you cannot miss Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, which is only seven kms away from here. Kadalundi is a bird watchers paradise.
