Bible Verses Bring Message of Hope, Joy, Love, and Peace for Christmas Cards

Sarah Myers
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I love the music, the good tidings. I love catching up with family and friends through cards and holiday newsletters. I love the messages of good will in holiday cards because of the message of hope and joy they have to offer.

Whether you believe in God or some other higher power, everyone could use a little bit of hope, joy, love and peace this Christmas as many people struggle to make ends meet and are waiting for the economic recovery to take hold. In Rick Warren's "The Purpose of Christmas," he reveals that one of the purposes of Christmas is to celebrate - to celebrate a new hope that Jesus Christ fulfills.

So, the following are some verses that share this message of celebration and hope. Spread some much needed cheer in your Christmas cards or e-greetings. Except where noted, most of the verses come from the New International Version, a Life Application Bible.

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people." - Luke 2:10

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." - Luke 2:14

"And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it," For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - Isaiah 40:5

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. - 1 Corinthians 13:13

Love never fails. - 1 Corinthians 13:8

And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. - 1 John 4:14

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. - 1 John 4:16

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. - Habakkuk 3:18

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. -- Psalm 16:11

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. - James 1:17

Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. -- 1 Peter 3:8
