Christians don't have to make their way in this world alone. Our Heavenly Father has sent His Spirit to live within and guide us, and He has sent His Word, the Bible, as a handbook, to show us what to do, to inspire us and calm our fears. There are 67 books in the Bible and therefore many, many inspirational Bible verses, but here are six Bible verses that have inspired, guided, comforted and taught me in my Christian life. I hope these Bible verses will inspire you as well.
1. "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
Philippians 4:8 (New American Standard)
This Bible verse is particularly inspirational because it reminds me that there are so many good and lovely things to let my thoughts dwell on. We can't avoid all ugliness while we live in this world, and if we are going to wade in, roll up our sleeves and work to bring about good, we will see it. But we don't have to dwell on it. We can remain pure in our thoughts, in our pursuits, in our passions, even. In the midst of pain, there are blessings. When things are going wrong, there are things still right. We can keep our eyes on things above while working below, and by doing so, we can succeed in bringing things up to the light rather than being dragged down to the darkness.
2. "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7 (American King James Version)
It is so easy to be fearful in this world with all its trouble and sorrow, but this Bible verse is inspirational, because "greater is He Who is in me, than he who is in the world"(1 John 4:4) and as long as I fear my Heavenly Father, I don't have to fear anything or anybody else. "Perfect love casts out fear," (1 John 4:18) and since "God is Love," (1 John 4:16) and His Holy Spirit lives within me, He fills me up with His power, teaches me to love rather than fear my fellow man and protects my mind against depression and fearfulness.
3. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11: 1 (King James)
Faith is not wishful thinking. You can't just "have faith" without an object of that faith. My Faith is in the Living God, and He tells me in His Word that when I believe His Word, my faith has substance; there is evidence for my beliefs. I can trust wholeheartedly in His promises without a shadow of a doubt. I cannot, however, manufacture promises and try to hold Him to them. Blind faith is just foolishness. True faith will inspire us to keep our eyes on Jesus, and this Bible verse reminds us of that.
4. "Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones."
Psalm 116:15 (New American Standard)
The death of our loved ones can really bring us low with grief and loneliness. It can be easy in our despair to question whether God even cares for our loss and pain. This Bible verse always inspires me and helps remind me that God cares very much; He stands ready to receive and reward His saints. This makes me feel less alone and more ready to allow Him to comfort me and fill the empty places that ache so badly when my loved one is no longer near.
5. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22,23 (New International Version)
Once we become Christians, and are baptized "for the remission of our sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit," (Acts 2:38) we can begin to develop the fruit of the Spirit. I love that it is fruit and not fruits, because that means it can all grow in one person! It takes time and effort to grow the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and each choice we make contributes or detracts from our growing fruit. This Bible verse inspires Christians as it gives us a plan of action that is very practical and fits every situation. No matter where we live or in what time period, there is no law against these character traits - this Heavenly Fruit .
6. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Psalm 119:105 (New American Standard)
Years ago, I was camping with my family in Florida, and the camp was overrun with armadillos. Armadillos are fascinating little prehistoric looking creatures and very interesting to look at by day, but by night they are not something anyone would want to step on. The park, however, was pitch black at night, so my step-father would light our way with a flashlight. We could only see to take each step, and we knew only that we would not step on an armadillo. We did not know what might be just outside the circle of light. That is how I view this inspirational Bible verse. God will guide us step by step through life if we trust in Him; but we cannot know and need not fear what might lie just outside the circle of His illumination and protection.

Wonderful and inspiring Bible verses. Thanks!
My bible goes just about everywhere with me - I carry a small New Testament in my purse. It's like a cool drink on a hot day and just knowing it is there when I need it helps me to get thru the day. Cheers :)
