Bible Verses About Pride and Arrogance

What does the Bible say about pride and arrogance? The Bible clearly warns us against a prideful and arrogant attitude. We have a tendency to rely on our own strength and ability instead of following and trusting God's Word. As believers we must be humble before God and submit to His authority. The following Bible verses provide a biblical concept of pride and arrogance. Feel free to use the list for a Bible study or group discussion.

Leviticus 26:19
I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.

Deuteronomy 1:43
So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the LORD's command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country.

1 Samuel 2:3
"Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.

1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king."

2 Kings 19:22

2 Corinthians 12:20
For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

    Great verses again, and as always John. As a Sunday school teacher I have to guard against the knowledge that I have as it puffs up and knowledge without love is just pride and arrogance...I will be headed for a fall, but if I can stay humble, and resist pride, its harder to fall when you are not lifted up so high (LOL)> Nicely done friend. :-)
