Bible Verses About Strife

What does the Bible say about strife? Often times the root of the problem is pride. The Bible clearly warns us against pride arrogance and conflict. As believers we must do our best to be humble and treat everyone equally with dignity and respect. We must learn to forgive and communicate the truth in love. The following Bible verses provide a biblical concept of strife. Feel free to use the list for a Bible study or group discussion.

Psalm 55:9
Confuse the wicked, O Lord, confound their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city.

Proverbs 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.

Proverbs 18:6
A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating.

Proverbs 20:3
It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.

Proverbs 22:10
Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended.

Proverbs 23:29-30
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

Proverbs 26:20-21
Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down. As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.

He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
