Exodus 3:7

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

"Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up ion my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, which is the church"
Christ purposely left a share in his sufferings for us. Therefore our suffering become valuable when joined to Christ's afflictions. Saint Paul rejoiced in his sufferings because he knew they had value.
