Bidcactus: The New Online Auction

Bid Cactus (www.bidcactus.com) is a new type of online auction. In order to bid, you must first register with the website and purchase bids. Each bid costs 75 cents and can be purchased in groups of 25 (for $18.75) to 500 (for $375). Each time you bid, the final price of the item increases by one or ten cents depending on the item. You will end up paying that price plus 75 cents times the number of bid you used to win the item. Auctions tend to last for about four hours.

You can pay for bid and winning auctions by credit card, googlepay, or paypal. If you decide you do not want an item, you can return it within seven days for a refund of the final auction price. However, you will still have lost the money that you spend on the bids you used to win the item.

Bid Cactus also does not have the wide variety of items that you will find on eBay. Eight auctions take place at a time. Currently, the items up for auction are a $50 gift cards to Target, Starbucks, Gap and Shell, $100 gift card to Wal-mart, an xbox Elite Holiday Bundle, a Flip Mino HD Digital Camcorder, and a bidpack of 100 bids. These types of items tend to sell for a few cents to a few dollars.

While the prices are great when you win an auction, winning is very hard to do. There is no way to tell how many people you are bidding against or what the bid history on that product is. Unlike eBay, the time left in the auction extends each time someone makes a bid. This can make the bidding process frustrating for people because bidding can go on for a long time. It almost feels more like you are gambling than bidding. Depending on your personality, this can either make it fun or annoying. At first glance, the system might sound like a good way to get a great deal, but make sure take some time to think about the risks before investing in a bid pack. Keep in mind that the website is designed to be entertaining as well as a place to find inexpensive products.
