Main Review
Made up of seven of the most popular board games today, the game is a great little app for the iPhone. The application includes the following games: tic-tac-toe, checkers, 4 in a row, backgammon, reversi, chess, and mancala.
Three game modes are currently available - single player, two player mode, and the AI mode. AI mode is technically just the 2 player mode, only the player competes with the in-game AI. The two player mode is basically a turn based type of game play on the same gadget as network support is not yet available.
All the games make up for a great time in single player mode. When playing against the AI, the player has the choice of increasing the game difficulty by increasing the mastery level of the AI.
Players can change the orientation on some of the games from portrait to landscape, providing a better view of the board while in play. This option is great; however, it would have been a lot better if it were available for all the games included.
Some minor gripes about the game are the size of some of the pieces. However, this does not affect game control or game play at all. The addition of network game play, which is set for future releases of the game, will definitely make this game a whole lot better.
The game is not exactly top of the line, as there is still room for improvement; however, for the price and the offering of seven board games in one, the game is a steal.
Pricing
The application is available for purchase at iTunes for $4.99.
Conclusion
The game graphics are excellent, as well are the in-game sound effects. Game controls are fair, and can do with a bit more improvement. One good thing about this game is that players can always go back to play more. This game is far above average, it gets 4 out of 5.
