There is nothing quite like that nostalgic feeling of stepping back in time, even if it only occurs from visiting a country store that mimics the feel of days gone by. An appreciation for the past makes a visit to this Amish style store even more inviting, and the unique items make it a must see when looking for that special gift for that food lover in your life. The quaint nostalgic candy lined shelves loaded with your favorite treats from another era are an outstanding advantage when making a trip to the Big Barn Country Store & Deli, located in the picturesque county of Fayette in south western Pennsylvania.

1955 was an eventful year, from the birth of the Mickey Mouse club to the death of film icon James Dean, and it was the start of the "open air" fruit market by Andrew and Loretta Bohatch that was to pave the beginnings for the Big Barn Country Store & Deli. Many changes have occurred to the Amish style store over the last five decades, and some of the best changes include their deli packed full of some of the best meats and cheeses that Fayette County has to offer.

The rustic décor of the Big Barn Country Store & Deli can be enjoyed from highway 51, just south of historic Perryopolis, Pennsylvania with the traditional Amish horse drawn wagon parked at one side of the store, and you simply cannot ignore the barn red paint and the old fashioned barrels of fresh produce lining the exterior of the store that gently guides you to come in for a peek of all things delicious that good Amish food and atmosphere have to offer.

Beautifully packaged specialty items from gift baskets, real maple syrup, sauces, relishes and dry rubs greet you upon entering the store, and are all available throughout the year. They also offer a vast selection of hard to find spices that are not only inexpensive; they are in alphabetical order for ease of choosing just the one you need. Dried fruits, home baked pies and bread, honey, trail mixes, salsa, mustards, specialty flours, Amish noodles, jarred fruits, fresh vegetables and baking supplies are just a small part of their huge collection of hard to find and unique items.

Free samples of Amish jerky, fresh deli meat and domestic and imported cheeses are offered daily, and specialty deli items that are hard to find are always available to the public. Some of these unique high quality meats include natural smoked hams and bacon, natural case wieners, farm fresh sausage and the Big Barn Country Store & Deli's famous Kolbossa, just to name a few.

No stone has been left unturned when it comes to the possibilities of what the Big Barn Country Store & Deli have to offer. Beautiful party snack platters from meat & cheese trays and party trays to vegetable and hot trays loaded with hot ham & pineapple or kielbasa & sauerkraut are available to consumers looking for that extra time saver for everything from barbecues and football parties to holiday gatherings, anniversaries, birthday parties or you just want a festive food tray filled with prepared goodies that are ready to eat.

The Big Barn Country Store & Deli commands attention due to the friendly staff, unique items, fine Amish traditions and high quality products that Pittsburghers, locals and tourists cannot ignore when looking for that special something that you just can't get anywhere else. Everything from the design of the store to the inventory and quaint country décor have had some thought put into it, and you cannot help but to feel like you are part of something special once you have made the decision to stop in and revisit those fond childhood memories.
