Another storm is rolling into Southern California as we head into the first weekend of March. If you have been trying to make your way up to the mountains for some winter play then you may be looking to reschedule once again. 2010 is proving to be an active year for Southern California meteorologists due to nearly weekly storms that are keeping active Californians indoors.

Children love going to Big Bear, Wrightwood and Mammoth to sled, ski and snowboard each year. If you were planning a February getaway for your family then you may now be looking at a mid- March getaway. The good news is that the snow will plentiful in March thanks to plenty of recent snowfall and depending on when you go up you may get a nice warm day to enjoy the snow.

Although many plan their snow play plans for November, December, January, or February, there are plenty of parents with school aged children who wait for the holidays to be well over with before another expense like a day trip or weekend getaway. March is still winter in the mountains and there is snow and fun to be had.

If you are going to Big Bear for snow tubing then waiting for the peak of the season to be over with may be beneficial to avoid larger crowds on the hills and in town as well. Getting lunch and dinner can be a bit of a nuisance during peak season. Start planning now to enjoy the last of winter (maybe) before Spring Break.
