Unique to Bear Mountain is "The Park" which is ultimately devoted to freestyle terrain. So if you are a snowboarder or an aspiring snowboarder, this is the place to flex your skills or acquire them as the case may be. "The Park" also has a 580-foot Superpipe and "The Scene" which includes a snowskate park. Keep in mind "The Park" is a great place for beginners to learn to ski and snowboard. Let's face it being at Big Bear with 31 ski trails one is bound to find the perfect place to fit in.
Snow Summit is the number one winter playground in Southern California. This is a great place for beginners as Snow Summit offers its' Bear Bottom Beginner's area so new skiers can learn their craft without any pressure. If your skills are intermediate to advanced skier, then Summit Run, Miracle Mile and Log Chute are the runs you will be interested in. The terrain park offers fun for the whole family. Don't miss Ego Trip Parks, which are for beginners or advance skiers. Snow Summit has something for everyone and with it's interconnecting runs; one can explore the entire mountain.
There are many activities going on at Big Bear depending on what month of the winter you plan to visit. Look forward to a real Oktoberfest celebration at Big Bear with arts and crafts, music, dancing and food through the 29th of October. In November Big Bear kicks off the holiday season with one of a kind merchandise available for sale to visitors. In December Christ in The Village is a beautiful experience with strolling carolers throughout Big Bear Village. In January, break in the New Year at Big Bear on New Years Eve while watching skiers ski down a mountain of beautiful white lights. Once the holiday is over take the Big Bear Eagle tour, which is very popular. Watch a local bald eagle in his natural environment as he soars the skies of beautiful Big Bear Mountain. In February the resorts sponsor the Big Bear Grand Tour of the Universe Star Parties. Travel the skies with professional astronomers as you watch the beautiful winter night skies of Big Bear through a telescope. In March, visitors can look forward to Springfest and Brewfest, which is Big Bears' spring break celebration with pond skimming competition and sampling of the local breweries latest brews.
There is a large selection of lodging at Big Bear. One can choose anywhere from cabins, to hotels, motels, bed and breakfast, timeshare properties, and even private homes that are available to rent seasonally. If you choose to camp out, those accommodations are available as well.
