Review of several Big Brother devotion sites demonstrates the majority of leaked and fragmented information is on the same topic, which leads to a spoiler conclusion. Most hints reveal there will be a theme of a varied cast most notably of age but also of beliefs/opinions and backgrounds. Allison Grodner, the executive producer of Big Brother, in a spring appearance on "Housecalls", CBS's weekday Big Brother live internet talk show, explained that casting was looking for some older contestants. That comment certainly aligns with the existing assumption.
Shelia Kennedy, a houseguest from Big Brother 9, confirms in an interview with www.tvgrapevine.com that she will be co-hosting CBS's "Housecalls" on Wednesdays. She tells tvgrapevine there will be houseguests born in the 60's and 70's and some younger kids. She comments on the rumor of 13 houseguests and speculates it could be comprised of 7 older and 6 younger houseguests. During the interview, she continues to make guesses about the extreme personalities that Allsion Grodner could be referring to in earlier interviews. She comments that the audience was upset that she was the oldest in the house last season and viewers thought it unfair she did not have anyone near her age in the house. She also guesses that political discussions could come into play, but these seem to be true guesses.
According to an interview conducted by www.jokersupdates.com, James Zinkand from Big Brother 9 (reported to also be a Season 10 "Housecalls" co-host) reveals the bedrooms have a 60's, 70's and 80's theme. Further, two top 35 finalists who were not cast as houseguests report other finalists are in their 30's, 40's, 50's and even one man is in his 60's. (It is not known if the 60 year old will be cast, but seems unlikely given the above themed rooms are said to be based upon the decades houseguests were born). Both discarded cast members are clear there will be intensity over political, moral and religious beliefs. One rejected finalist states questioning about his Jewish faith was extensive.
Along with age range and extreme ideals, it is suggested the houseguests will also be of various socio-economic backgrounds http://www.onlinebigbrother.com/2008/05/more-big-brother-10-rumors-surfacing-reality-newbs-vs-reality-veterans/ Further, it seems there will be more houseguests with a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The prevalence of Caucasians in the Big Brother house was a common complaint in many chat rooms during Big Brother 9. Many forum contributors would like to see a balance of backgrounds and races proportional to the national population.
I have found nothing to suggest rumors of houseguests with past connections or current relationships. Fans have made known they are tired of this "twist" and hope CBS will put it to rest.
Plenty of other rumors are circulating; but the dissimilar ages, views, and backgrounds of the Houseguests is by far at the forefront at the beginning of July. Some sites devoted to Big Brother 10 claim the Houseguests (cast) will be disclosed on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. If so, viewers will know then if the battle of the decades is the Big Brother premise for Season 10 that begins airing on July 13.
*A brief update -- Houseguests were not disclosed on July 2, 2008. However, Allsion Groednesr granted an interview on this date to www.welovebigrother.com and gave definite information that confirms the diversity rumor. Grodner explains in the nearly 9 minute long interview that Big Brother is returning to its roots. By that she means, the houseguests will absolutely be stragers when they enter the house. Further, they will come from different backgrounds, points of view and a wide range of ages. She says there will be "young, old, in between, parents, students, white collar jobs, blue collar jobs...very specific types of people with extreme points of view...". Grodner also emphasizes the game will begin before the houseguests enter the house.
