Big Brother 12 - Who Got Nominated for Eviction

Jack Aiello
Big Brother 12 finally kicked off last night on CBS with a fairly decent start. Host Julie Chen took us through the motions as another 13 housemates were introduced and then swiftly ushered into the Big Brother digs. As Julie stated, it was going to be a 75-day struggle for power, with an anonymous saboteur thrown into the mix to stir even more trouble and paranoia among the houseguests.

Initial Thoughts on the House guests
It's only day one, so my thoughts might change dramatically, but everyone in the cast seems to be likable and entertaining. There seem to be an ample number of self professed "smart" people in the Big Brother house this year.

Matt, from Illinois, doesn't pass up an opportunity to let viewers know he's a certified genius with a membership in Mensa. And though Rachel is a chemist, her red alert hair and overflowing balloon bags suggest otherwise. I'm not saying a chemist should be an expert on religion, but when you mistake a yarmulke for a "yom kippur", it leads me to believe you didn't pay much attention in school, let alone understand the physical constants for water.

Insert Wiener Pun Here
There's nothing like lowbrow entertainment to kick off the summer frivolity. And Big Brother did not disappoint with an HOH challenge strictly for the dogs. Hot dogs, that is. Starting at one end of a platform, all teammates must cross over to the other end while hanging on or straddling a giant wiener. The last team member standing would become the HOH.

There were incentives and prizes for going first, which made for some interesting strategizing and planning, but really, it was just fun watching people trying to hang on to a giant wiener lubricated with "hot dog" and "mustard".

Hayden Wins HOH and He Nominates...
With one injury and and a few pratfalls later (Britney suffered a pretty nasty fall... or did she?), Hayden was the last of his team standing. With his mop top hair, Internet sites are already calling him a Justin Bieber look alike .

According to Hamsterwatch.com, Hayden nominated Rachel and Brendon for eviction. I'm assuming Hayden's choice to nominate Brendon stems from suspicions that he's the saboteur; or possibly he feels threatened by another alpha male presence.

Either way, there have already been some steamy make-out sessions between Brendon and Rachel that should entertain the late night feeders on Showtime. As the days progress we'll definitely learn more about the house dynamics, alliances and who will emerge as a fan favorite, the sweetheart, the villain, the liar and the backstabber.

And let's not forget that there's always someone who will just plain lose it. That's always fun to watch too.

Stay tuned Sunday Night on CBS, 8pm ET for another episode of Big Brother.

LOL at the weiner contest, I'm thinking they could have had some Sabrett's sauce on there :)

Excellent summary of the season opener. I like how they planted a rogue character in the show.

Glad you wrote about the opening Jack, as I missed it. Big Brother is the only reality show I try to catch during the summer.
