Big Brother 8 - Final Head of Household
The Results of Round One and Two, as Well as Predicitions About This Final Week
Tuesday night's broadcast left us watching the first round of this HOH, an endurance competition involving a spinning rabbit and a rainy garden. The competition went on for almost eight hours, making for one of the best Big Brother After Dark episodes all season, and probably for some great traffic to the live feeds. After several hours, Danielle began to cry and shake rapidly, and eventually could not keep up with the rabbit. It seems that she probably kicked it trying to get her convulsing legs to hop over it, because the rabbit then stopped and would not start back up again. Removing this level of difficulty from the competition meant that the battle between Dick and Zach would continue for hours.
Watching the aftermath of Danielle's defeat was heart wrenching. By the time she was eliminated from the HOH competition, her lips were blue and her entire body was convulsing. She was sobbing as she grabbed towels and tried to dry off and warm up. As she frantically made her way into a warm shower, she continued to sob hysterically, louder and harder than I have seen her cry throughout the entire season. Her tears could have been at losing, or at the pain caused by the competition, or at the embarrassment and shame of being the daughter of such a horribly revolting man- especially after his tactics against Zach in the HOH competition.
As much as I do not think highly of the way Danielle has played the game, I must admit that she is a tough competitor, and she also has been put in some very tough circumstances throughout the season. As there has been no mention of her boyfriend at home since about the fourth week, and it was Nick who showed up at the Power of 10 episode, as well as Nick who wrote (or rather, designed) her HOH letter, it is likely that her boyfriend has decided to break up with her. I may be wrong, but I am thinking that Danielle is probably expecting this to be the case as well. With her extreme devotion to Nick, she may not care; however, if I remember correctly, I think she was living with her boyfriend before entering the Big Brother house, so she may be looking for somewhere to live. If she leaves with half a million dollars, it probably won't even be an issue (although that is barely enough to buy a house in California), but I am sure that Dad would also be more than willing to take her in, especially considering that she has carried him to the end of this game.
Anyway, back to the HOH competition. Throughout the first several hours of the competition, easing up only slightly after Danielle left, Dick shouted insults at Zach and harassed him about every thing he has said or done throughout the course of the season. Dick's belittling remarks and disgusting language were an atrocious sight. I wonder if her knows how pathetic he looked dripping wet, shaking, and shouting "mother f-er" at Zach for hours.
In the end, Dick was shaking so badly that it seemed he might actually be going into shock, and he eventually gave up the competition in the interest of not permanently damaging his health. He even asked the producers if he would be eliminated from the competition if he asked to be taken to the emergency room. I imagine they brought in a doctor to the house, because he did not leave for the emergency room.
In the aftermath, the producers are probably thinking about some better choices they could have made when designing that competition. It seems that all houseguests are in quite a bit of pain, and Dick seems to have an eye infection from the water. Zach has commented that they all have some sort of infection from the water.
Zach's victory in the first round means that Dick and Danielle played against each other in the second round, which we do not officially know much about yet. Danielle made some reference about being underwater, but she might have just been trying to throw Zach off. (Apparently he was not allowed to watch). It seems that Dick did win the competition, which doesn't make much sense. The smart thing for the Donatos would have been for Dick to throw the competition for Danielle to win, as she has a much better chance at beating Zach.
Now it all comes down to today's final round of the HOH competition, Zach versus Dick. If Dick wins, the jury will have the horrible decision between which Donato to give the half million to. As much as everyone hated Zach at first, I believe that, if he is in the final two, the jury members would rather give it to him than see a Donato win.
