Big Brother 9: Episode 5 Recap

Timmy back once again for your Big Brother 9 recap. This time I'm taking a belated look at episode five. First a look at where we stand within the Big Brother 9 house.

Where We Stand

HoH: Amanda and James
On the Block: Jen and Parker; Ryan and Allison

Big Brother House Guests say the Darndest Things

Amanda is gossiping. A lot. Everyone in the house is shown listen to her ripping someone else a new one. Things reach boiling point when Chelsia calls Amanda out on something she said about James. As these two go at it, Joshuah lets his inner tiger out and really really rips Amanda a new one. He calls her a horse face about 30 times, and as they are walking away, someone brings up a noose regarding what Amanda's big mouth is doing to her chances. Joshuah then, says "like her dad." (A week ago Amanda told some of the other Big Brother houseguests about her father, who hung himself.) Not liking someone is one thing, and taking shots at them can be part of that. But Joshuah was pretty out of line with this one. He did, however, say it in the heat of the moment and has since apologized to Amanda, who has forgiven him. More surprising, to me (but far less inappropriate), was Jen telling the other Big Brother house guests that Ryan (Her Boyfriend!) was a racist. I'm not telling you she implied he was racist. She flat out said "Ryan is a racist." Sheila tips Ryan off to what was said, and he confronts Jen. She says she mentioned he had a problem with interracial couples, but NEVER said he was racist. That should be fun when they get out of the house and watch the tapes. Turns out she called him a racist AND lied about it to his face. I realize it must be tough when competing with your significant other to stay in the game, but she went too low. People that are truly racist have a way of showing their true colors. I'm giving Ryan the benefit of the doubt, because I haven't seen anything (and I know we don't see everything, but you have to figure Big Brother would show it) from him that I view as being shady. Maybe he does have certain feelings about race, which would be unfortunate. I have less respect for a girl who claims to love someone making a deliberate attempt to tarnish their name. You suck Jen.

The Eviction Vote

Matt and Nate vote to evict Ryan and Allison.

Chelsia and James vote to evict Jen and Parker.

Josh and Sharon vote to evict Jen and Parker.

Adam and Sheila are split on who they want (Adam wants to keep Jen and Parker) but end up agreeing to vote against Jen and Parker.

Jen and Parker are evicted.

Big Brother HoH competition

Five couples compete (Alex and Amanda cannot compete because they are HoH.) This game gets interesting. They ask each couple a question about what they think the majority of the teams would rather see in the house. The kicker is, whichever thing ends up being the majority vote WILL happen in the house.

Question 1: Would you rather go 72 hours without hot food or hot water?
3/5 said without hot water. Big Brother house turns off the hot water for 72 hours.

Question 2: What would you rather see the female Big Brother house guests wear for the next 24 hours? A bathing suit or their partners favorite outfit?
5/5 went with bathing suit.

Question 3: What would you rather do without for a week, utensils or cups?
3/5 said cups, there will be no cups in the house for one week.

Question 4: They need some fun. Would they rather have a margarita party, or an outdoor grill?
5/5 said margarita party. They get one, but will still be without cups.

Question 5: For one week, would you rather have the men serve breakfast in bed, or the women cook dinner?
3/5 went with having the women cook dinner. High five to the Big Brother men for maintaining traditional gender roles!

Question 6: Would you rather go for two weeks without workout equipment or a washing machine?
4/5 said washing machine! Chelsia and James answered 6/6 correctly to become the new HoH.

Quick Hits

-On eviction night, Parker's hair looked exactly like Sideshow Bob's hair from the Simpsons. Classic.

-How have Sheila and Adam avoided being nominated thus far?

-Julie asked Sheila how things with her and Adam were going during the live eviction ceremony. Says Sheila: We are a match made in heaven.

-When Julie asked the Big Brother houseguests if they were confident there were no other couples in the house, only 3 people raised their hand. Trust is at a minimum in the Big Brother confines.
