Big Bubba's Bad BBQ in Visalia, CA: Fun for the Whole Family!

Are you one of those parents who hate going to a sit-down restaurant with your kids? It's an uphill battle just trying to find something on the menu they will eat. Then, by the time the food gets there your kid's attention span has reached a maximum and they would rather be jumping on the closest empty booth. If any of this sounds all too familiar then I have the restaurant for you. It's called Big Bubba's Bad Bar-B-Que in Visalia, California. They also have two more branches in Paso Robles and Atascadero, California.

I'll get to the food shortly, the most important attraction of the restaurant in the largest tree house which runs along the top of the restaurant. I promise it will keep your kids entertained for hours. What kid doesn't love a tree house much less one indoors in the hot summer months? There are easy stairs for the little ones to climb and the tree house reaches the furthest corners of the restaurant. Kids are welcome to run around and get out all the energy they brought with them.

If you're worried about entertainment for the adults, they've got that covered too. In the back corner of the restaurant is a mechanical bull taunting all those daring enough to try it out. It costs $3 to try your skills or an extra $2 to get your picture taken to remember the moment. When you begin your ride, an announcer comes over the loud speaker to get the restaurant's attention. It's also televised on TV's in the back corners so everyone can catch a glimpse of your ride. Don't worry, kids and grandmothers can go for a spin, the settings can be set from easy to hard.

Your serving staff also keeps you entertained by breaking to do dances every couple of hours. But don't worry, the service is still excellent. My drink was never empty and my waiter was always close by when I needed something. When he was off dancing, someone else stepped in to make sure we had everything we needed.

Now, let's get to the food. As an appetizer we started with the onion rings which were cooked perfectly in crispy breading. Just be careful, they're hot! They're served with a side of ranch and their awesome BBQ sauce. For my meal I had the BBQ chicken salad and it was really good. It's all the toppings of a regular salad: lettuce, tomatoes, carrots with light ranch dressing, chicken, and a sprinkling of BBQ sauce. My husband had the famous ribs and they were awesome. You can spot the smoke pit as you walk through the front door and they know what they're doing back there. The ribs were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce. Any rib lover should check them out.

They have a good selection of beer to choose from and have great happy hour special Monday through Friday. All beers and appetizers are half off. The prices are pretty decent here especially considering how tasty the food is.
