Big Fights Coming Up for Golden Boy Promotions

Mayweather Vs. Mosley, Khan Vs. Malignaggi and Vazquez Vs. Marquez IV

Boxing is really picking up the pace over the next few months, which is much needed after a relatively slow first quarter. There are some great match-ups all across the spectrum of weight classes, including tons of big names, and all of the major networks are involved. Golden Boy Promotions itself has three very large fight cards coming up within just a month, and all promise to be exciting and worthwhile. Here they are in order of their importance to the sport.

1. Mayweather vs. Mosley - It's the biggest fight of the year, with two of the best fighters of their generation. It's scheduled for May 1, and has been receiving the full promotional treatment with the multipart 24/7 reality series. The fight will be broadcast on HBO PPV, so you'll have to shell out some money or check out some live online Mayweather vs. Mosley results. The winner of the bout could be looking at a showdown against Manny Pacquiao by the end of the year.

2. Khan vs. Malignaggi - The Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi junior welterweight title fight will be shown live on HBO on May 15, coming from Madison Square Garden. The 140 lbs weight class has become perhaps the deepest in the entire sport, with a jam packed crew of tough titlists and legit contenders. The winner of this bout will have to be respected as one of the best in the junior welterweight division. The card is made all the better because two other big names in the division are also battling it out in the Victor Ortiz vs. Nate Campbell bout. The winner there is in line for a title shot, and the loser will be cast out of the picture.

3. Vazquez vs. Marquez IV - Many in the boxing world aren't that eager to see this bout, because it's a somewhat pointless endeavor for two men who have already beaten each other to pieces on three separate occasions. Still, it will be an exciting, action packed contest. Perhaps the more significant bout on the card is the co-feature, featuring young standout Abner Mares in a stern test against the number 2 rated fighter in the bantamweight division, Yonnhy Perez. These fights are scheduled for May 22, and will be aired on Showtime.

That's three great cards and a total of five really solid fights from Golden Boy in the next month alone, so stay tuned boxing fans.
